Shri D Surendran has been appointed by Punjab National Bank as Executive Director, effective March 24, 2025. Previously serving as Chief General Manager at Canara Bank, he will hold this position until May 31, 2027, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
With a career spanning over 34 years at Canara Bank, Shri Surendran has held multiple leadership roles across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, New Delhi, and Andhra Pradesh. He began as an Agriculture Extension Officer and went on to lead Very Large and Exceptionally Large Branches, serve as General Manager in Karnataka Gramin Bank, and head the Canara Bank Circle Office in Madurai. As Chief General Manager, he was responsible for overseeing the Human Resources Wing at the Head Office and played a key role in implementing Project Aarohan-HR Transformation.
Shri Surendran holds a postgraduate degree in Agriculture from Annamalai University and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He has also completed the Leadership Development Programme for Senior Executives conducted by the Banks Board Bureau at the Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru. Additionally, he was nominated to the Board of Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company Ltd.
With his extensive expertise in branch banking, priority credit, MSME, retail credit, recovery, and human resources, Shri Surendran’s leadership is expected to play a crucial role in driving Punjab National Bank’s future growth and strategic initiatives.
