Vivekananda Biswal Re-appointed as Independent Director on HPCL Board

Vivekananda Biswal has been re-inducted as an Independent Director on the Board of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), effective May 5, 2025. The reappointment comes following an official notification from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), as confirmed in HPCL’s regulatory disclosure.

Hailing from Odisha, Biswal brings a strong financial background to the table. He holds a master’s degree in Commerce and is a qualified member of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India. His corporate experience spans multiple sectors, with board-level roles in various organizations further adding to his governance credentials.

The ministry’s directive states that Biswal’s tenure will last for one year from the effective date, or until any new decision is taken, whichever is earlier. HPCL also noted that he shares no familial relationships with any current members of the Board and that there are no legal or regulatory restrictions affecting his appointment.

With this reappointment, HPCL strengthens its leadership with a familiar and experienced voice, as the company continues to align its governance priorities with the evolving needs of the energy and petrochemical industry.
