Shailesh Paul has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Wibmo, the paytech division of PayU, one of India’s foremost digital financial services providers. With this leadership move, PayU reaffirms its focus on strengthening innovation, security, and scalability across its fintech ecosystem.
In his new role, Shailesh will spearhead Wibmo’s strategic vision and growth initiatives, focusing on expanding its capabilities in authentication, risk management, and digital identity solutions. He will play a key role in scaling secure transaction infrastructure, fostering innovation, and building global partnerships that align with dynamic market and regulatory demands.
With more than 25 years of experience across payments, banking, and fintech, Shailesh brings a rich blend of strategic insight and executional expertise. Prior to joining Wibmo, he served as Global Head of Small Merchant Acceptance at Visa, where he led global strategy and go-to-market initiatives that digitally enabled over 50 million SMBs. He also previously led Visa’s Merchant Acquiring business for India and South Asia, driving major growth and expanding digital acceptance.
Shailesh has also held leadership positions at Mastercard and Standard Chartered, covering product development, marketing, and consumer lending. Throughout his career, he has worked across key international markets and has been actively involved in policy advocacy, industry collaborations, and mentoring initiatives, particularly for women in technology.
A graduate of the Wharton School’s Advanced Management Program and Xavier Institute of Management, Shailesh’s appointment marks a pivotal step in Wibmo’s journey to lead the future of secure, intelligent, and inclusive digital payments.
