Sharat Sinha Appointed as CEO of Airtel Business

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has announced the appointment of Sharat Sinha as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Airtel Business, effective from June 3, 2024. Sinha’s extensive experience in the technology sector, including leadership roles at Checkpoint Software Technologies, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, and VM Ware, positions him as a valuable addition to Airtel’s leadership team. His background in telecommunications, gained from previous roles at Ericsson and VSNL, further strengthens his capabilities to lead Airtel Business into its next phase of growth and innovation.

In his new role, Sinha will report to Gopal Vittal, the CEO and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, and will join the Airtel Management Board. Vittal expressed confidence in Sinha’s ability to drive Airtel’s ambitions in expanding its portfolio across connectivity and adjacencies. Sinha’s broad global experience in product management and business leadership across leading technology companies is expected to provide significant momentum to Airtel’s growth strategy.

Sinha’s appointment follows a strategic restructuring within Airtel Business, which involved dividing the enterprise arm into three segments: Global business, Domestic business, and Nxtra Data Centers. This restructuring aims to streamline operations and enhance focus on key business areas. Sinha’s leadership will play a crucial role in driving synergies across these segments and advancing Airtel Business’s strategic objectives.

Airtel Business holds a prominent position in the business-to-business (B2B) space, offering innovative solutions to enterprises. Sinha expressed his enthusiasm in joining Airtel Business, highlighting the company’s leadership in delivering value-driven technology solutions to its customers. He emphasized Airtel’s commitment to enhancing its leadership position through future-ready innovations and solutions, aimed at addressing the evolving needs of businesses.

With over 500 million customers across 17 countries in South Asia and Africa, Airtel continues to expand its presence and offerings in the telecom industry. Sinha’s appointment underscores Airtel’s commitment to leveraging top-tier talent to drive sustained growth and innovation. As Airtel Business prepares to navigate through dynamic market landscapes, Sinha’s leadership will be instrumental in shaping its strategic direction and cementing its position as a leader in the B2B space.
