Mr. Manoj Jain has taken charge as the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU, effective June 20, 2024. Prior to this elevation, Mr. Jain held positions as Director (R&D) and Director (Bangalore Complex) on an additional charge basis. His association with BEL began in August 1991 when he joined as a Probationary Engineer after earning a BE in Electronics from REC Jaipur (now MNIT), where he graduated with a Gold medal.
Throughout his distinguished career spanning over three decades, Mr. Jain has made significant contributions to research and development within the organization. In his early years at BEL’s Kotdwara Unit, he was instrumental in the development of critical technologies such as Digital Multiplexers, Cross Connects, CDOT Exchanges, and Military Switches. In 1999, he transitioned to BEL’s Central Research Laboratory in Bangalore, where he focused on developing technologies for defence networks and bulk security solutions. Notably, he contributed to the development of VeXT, Scan Converter, and Display systems using FPGA in the radar domain, a core business area for BEL.
From December 2017 to May 2019, Mr. Jain served as the Chief Scientist of CRL-Bangalore, overseeing technological advancements across various areas. He later became the General Manager of BEL’s Product Development & Innovation Centre (PD&IC) in June 2019, where he led the development of numerous new products and subsystems that bolstered innovation and self-reliance within the company. His leadership continued as the General Manager and Head of the Electronic Warfare & Avionics SBU at BEL-Bangalore from June 2021, providing strategic vision and overseeing business operations.
In September 2022, Mr. Jain was appointed as Director (R&D) of BEL, and he also held the additional charge of Director (HR) from November 2022 to May 2023. His contributions have been recognized through various awards, including R&D awards, Key Contributor Awards, the Raksha Mantri’s Award, and SODET Awards. Mr. Jain has also published numerous technical papers, applied for several patents, and delivered talks to defence users and DRDOs, highlighting his expertise and dedication to the field.
