Dr. Debabrata Dash has joined ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Ltd as Head of Human Resources (Eastern India), bringing over two decades of HR leadership and strategic management experience. Based in Bhubaneswar, he will oversee HR and ER responsibilities across four states in Eastern India.
Previously, Dr. Dash served as Group Vice President and CHRO at MSPL Limited, focusing on digital HR transformation, talent management strategies, and capability-building programs. He also revamped HR and ER systems to enhance workforce experience and implemented talent mobility schemes.
Earlier, at Tata Steel, he managed HR for greenfield projects and Tata Steel Mining, implementing project-focused HR policies and optimizing workforce through talent assessments and compensation frameworks.
Dr. Dash’s career also includes significant roles at Tata Motors, where he led HR operations for the largest commercial vehicle plant, focusing on performance management, employee engagement, and union negotiations.
He holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, a PGDM from Xavier Institute of Management (XIM) Bhubaneswar, and a PhD from Utkal University.
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, was established in 2019 after acquiring Essar Steel. It plays a crucial role in India’s steel industry, producing over 300 steel grades including hot rolled coils, cold rolled coils, and galvanized sheets, contributing significantly to the nation’s industrial self-sufficiency.
