Aston Martin has officially announced the appointment of Enrico Cardile as Chief Technical Officer, following his departure from Ferrari. Cardile, who served as Ferrari’s Technical Director for the chassis area, leaves the Italian team after nearly two decades of service. His new role at Aston Martin will commence in 2025.
Cardile’s move to Aston Martin comes after widespread speculation in Italy and was confirmed shortly after his resignation from Ferrari was made public. In his new position, Cardile will be pivotal in steering the technical direction of Aston Martin as they prepare for significant regulation changes in 2026.
“I’m looking forward to joining Aston Martin Aramco,” Cardile said. “The ambition and desire are clear, and it is a unique opportunity to be part of that journey. This is a personal and professional challenge, and I look forward to working with the team to bring success to this iconic brand.”
Cardile’s appointment follows the recent announcement that Andy Cowell will join Aston Martin as Group CEO. Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll emphasized the strength these new appointments bring to the team’s technical leadership.
“I would like to welcome Enrico to Aston Martin Aramco as we look to reinforce the technical leadership team ahead of significant regulation changes in 2026,” Stroll said. “I am thrilled that we continue to attract world-class talent to our team. Enrico shares my motivation to be successful in F1 and will have all the resources available to him to realize that ambition.”
Team Principal Mike Krack highlighted the importance of Cardile’s role in developing the next generation of cars under the new regulations.
Cardile’s experience and fresh insights are expected to be crucial as Aston Martin aims to strengthen its position and achieve greater success in Formula 1.
