Roma Dutta Chobey Appointed Interim Head of Google India’s Large Customer Sales Team

Roma Dutta Chobey has been appointed as the interim head of Google India’s Large Customer Sales (LCS) team, following the elevation of Sanjay Gupta to President of Google Asia Pacific (APAC). This move comes as Google begins the search for a permanent replacement for Gupta.

According to an internal memo accessed by e4m, Philip Schindler, SVP & Chief Business Officer at Google, expressed excitement over Gupta’s new role, stating, “Following Scott’s announcement in May that he would retire and leave Google at the end of this year, we began an extensive and thorough search for our new APAC President – which was led by Scott. I’m thrilled to share the news that Sanjay Gupta, our Country Manager for India, is now the President of Asia Pacific.”

Roma Dutta Choubey, currently serving as the Managing Director for Digital Native Industries, Media and Entertainment, and Government at Google, will take on the interim role. She has been with Google since November 2015, initially joining as Head of Industry (Classifieds and Gaming) from HDFC Bank.

This interim appointment marks a critical period for Google India as the company seeks a new leader to continue driving growth and engagement in the region.
