Ann Miller has joined Nike’s leadership team as Executive Vice President of Global Sports Marketing, marking a significant shift in the brand’s strategy under CEO Elliott Hill’s guidance. Miller steps into the role with a vision to steer Nike back to its roots in sports and athlete engagement, underscoring the company’s renewed focus on its core values of performance and innovation.
A veteran at Nike and the former chief legal officer, Ann Miller takes on this influential role following the retirement of John Slusher, who served the company for over two decades. In tandem with her appointment, Rob Leinwand has been elevated to EVP and Chief Legal Officer, aligning with the company’s strategic priorities.
With her deep understanding of Nike’s brand and athlete-centric approach, Ann Miller is set to strengthen Nike’s partnerships with athletes, sports leagues, and federations, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to performance and innovation. Her focus will extend across a broad spectrum, from marketing to product innovation, positioning athletes at the heart of Nike’s storytelling.
The appointment reflects a recalibration of Nike’s strategy as the company reconsiders its recent emphasis on lifestyle products under former CEO John Donahoe. While this direction initially brought success, the focus on lifestyle over performance left room for competitors to capitalize. Under Hill’s leadership, Nike aims to reclaim its stronghold in sports, leveraging Miller’s expertise to enhance athlete integration and product innovation.
Alongside these leadership changes, Nike has taken steps to improve operational efficiency, with Chief Supply Chain Officer Venkatesh Alagirisamy now reporting directly to Hill. This streamlined structure is intended to accelerate supply chain responsiveness, supporting Nike’s competitive edge as it reorients toward athlete-driven excellence.
