Alok Verma has been elevated to the position of Director In-Charge of Rourkela Steel Plant, a flagship unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). With over three decades of experience at SAIL, Verma’s leadership marks a significant step in the organization’s ongoing journey toward operational excellence and innovation.
A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from BIT Sindri, Verma began his career at SAIL in 1991 as a Management Trainee at Bokaro Steel Plant. Over the years, he has been instrumental in executing critical assignments, including key projects at the Rolling Mills, showcasing his technical acumen and strategic expertise.
In July 2023, Verma was elevated to the role of Executive Director, overseeing the Mines of Rourkela Steel Plant. His tenure witnessed the revival of manganese mining at Bolani after nearly four decades, a landmark achievement under his guidance. Additionally, the Odisha Group of Mines achieved record-breaking iron ore production, enhancing SAIL’s resource capabilities.
Verma also spearheaded the integration of the Odisha Group of Mines with Rourkela Steel Plant, streamlining resource management and improving overall efficiency. His strategic leadership in these areas laid the foundation for enhanced performance and sustainable operations.
Prior to his elevation, Verma served as Executive Director In-Charge (Works) at Rourkela Steel Plant. His contributions during this tenure were marked by significant improvements in production processes and operational efficiencies, solidifying the plant’s position as a leading unit within SAIL.
