Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited has appointed Amrut Medhekar as the Chief Executive Officer – CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) Business. In this critical leadership role, Medhekar will directly report to Sanjeev Jain and Sandeep Jain, the Managing Directors of the company.
Medhekar brings over 27 years of extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong background in strategic planning, profit & loss management, team building, digitization, and budgetary control. His appointment is expected to drive the strategic growth and operational excellence of Akums’ CDMO division.
Before joining Akums, Medhekar served as President, India Business – Rx, Contract Manufacturing, Gx & Global API at Wockhardt Ltd. During his tenure of approximately two and a half years, he was instrumental in driving key strategic initiatives and managing crucial business operations, significantly contributing to the company’s growth.
Medhekar’s professional journey also includes over 13 years with the Zydus Group, where he held various leadership roles, including Senior Vice President & Cluster Head. His responsibilities at Zydus encompassed commercial excellence, strategy, and spearheading digital initiatives. Earlier in his career, Medhekar held significant roles at Ranbaxy and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd., where he successfully implemented business development and market-building strategies.
Medhekar’s extensive experience and proven leadership in the pharmaceutical sector make him a valuable addition to Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited, as the company continues to expand its footprint in the CDMO space.
