The Central Government has named Atul Kumar Chaudhary as the new Secretary of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), succeeding V Raghunandan, who retired last month.
Raghunandan’s retirement took effect on May 31, with the announcement made during the TRAI open house on May 15. During his tenure, he oversaw significant telecom project implementations, enforcement of telecom regulations across various regions, and the execution of related policies.
Atul Kumar Chaudhary, the new Secretary, has previously served as the Deputy Director General (DDG) at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and held the position of DDG at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in 2021.
Chaudhary, an officer from the 1989 batch of the Indian Telecommunication Services (ITS), is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee. He also holds a Master’s Diploma in Public Policy and Administration from the Indian Institute of Public Administration.
