The Board of Directors of Coromandel International Ltd (CIL) has announced the elevation of S Sankarasubramanian to the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately. Previously serving as the Executive Director of the Nutrient Business, Sankarasubramanian brings extensive experience and a proven track record in financial and business leadership.
Sankarasubramanian’s association with the Murugappa Group began in 1993. He launched his career at E.I.D Parry (India) Limited in Corporate Finance, where he advanced through various roles before joining Coromandel International Limited in 2003. During his tenure at Coromandel, he has played a pivotal role in consolidating the company’s position in the industry, driving profitable growth, and diversifying into new product portfolios such as nano technology and drone spraying services. Additionally, he has spearheaded the company’s foray into mining operations.
A mathematics graduate from the University of Madras, Sankarasubramanian is a member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India and completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School in 2009.
His leadership extends beyond Coromandel International, as he also serves on the boards of the Fertiliser Association of India, Tunisian Indian Fertiliser S.A. in Tunisia, Foskor (Pty) Ltd. in South Africa, and various subsidiaries of the company.
