Gaurav Banerjee Takes the Helm as CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has announced Gaurav Banerjee as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding NP Singh, who recently announced his departure after an illustrious 25-year tenure with Sony. Banerjee, a seasoned industry professional, is set to assume his new role by August, as reported by media outlets.

Banerjee’s career trajectory has been marked by notable achievements and diverse experiences. Beginning his journey as a journalist, he honed his skills at Aaj Tak and Star News before venturing into leadership roles. Notably, he played a pivotal role in launching Star Ananda, a Bengali news channel, during his tenure at Star News.

His tenure at Star India saw him spearheading content for Hindi entertainment and Disney+ Hotstar, besides overseeing channels like Star Bharat, Hindi and English movies, kids and infotainment, and regional channels in eastern India. His strategic acumen and visionary leadership have been instrumental in driving growth and innovation across various segments of the media industry.

Banerjee’s academic background includes a master’s degree in filmmaking and TV production from Jamia Millia Islamia University and an undergraduate degree in history from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. His blend of academic rigor and hands-on experience positions him as a dynamic leader capable of navigating the complexities of the evolving media landscape.
