Reliance Jio Appoints Sidharth Kedia to Lead JioGames Amid Strategic Expansion

Reliance Jio’s gaming platform, JioGames, has appointed Sidharth Kedia, former CEO of NODWIN Gaming, as its new head. Kedia, who left NODWIN Gaming in October last year, joined JioGames in June as Senior Vice President. Previously, he held roles at Reliance’s media divisions Viacom18 and Network18 from 2015 to 2019.

Reflecting on his earlier tenure with Reliance, Kedia shared on LinkedIn, “In 2015, I joined RIL’s media business during Jio’s final stages of development. I was tasked by the chairman’s office to manage the PMO for Jio’s ‘friends and family’ launch in December 2015. Looking back, I take immense pride in being part of such a significant initiative.”

“Returning to the RIL family after a decade, I am excited to lead Jiogames and contribute to building a gaming powerhouse that India eagerly anticipates,” he added.

Kedia’s appointment comes as JioGames aims to strengthen its position in the market. The gaming division of Mukesh Ambani’s Jio plans to target both gamers and game developers.

Last year, Jio entered a 10-year strategic partnership with French company Gamestream, which includes Ubisoft among its partners. This collaboration is intended to enhance Jio’s cloud gaming platform, JioGamesCloud, offering a wide range of games from AAA titles to hyper-casual games across various platforms.

According to Lumikai, India’s gaming market is projected to reach $3.1 billion by FY23 and is expected to grow to $7.5 billion by FY28, making it the second-largest gaming market globally after China, with 15.4 billion game downloads in FY23.
