Rishit Jhunjhunwala has been named the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Truecaller, effective January 9, 2025. This leadership transition comes as Truecaller’s current CEO, Alan Mamedi, and Chief Strategy Officer, Nami Zarringhalam, step down from their operational roles. Both Mamedi and Zarringhalam, who co-founded the Swedish caller identification app in 2009, will continue to serve as strategic advisors and board members, offering their guidance to the company until mid-2025.
Jhunjhunwala, who has been with Truecaller since long, and has held several key roles within the company. He began his journey as head of product, was promoted to Chief Product Officer in 2020, and later took on the role of Managing Director for India. His extensive experience in product development and leadership, coupled with his deep understanding of Truecaller’s operations, has positioned him as a strong leader to drive the company’s global vision forward.
Over the years, Jhunjhunwala has played an instrumental role in Truecaller’s growth, particularly in India, which remains the app’s largest market. With over 500 million monthly active users, Truecaller continues to expand its revenue streams, which include premium subscriptions, Truecaller for Business, and ads. As the company charts its future, Jhunjhunwala is committed to furthering its mission of enhancing communication security and safety, building on the strategic foundation laid by Mamedi and Zarringhalam.
