Swiggy Instamart Appoints Amitesh Jha as CEO

Swiggy Instamart, the quick commerce arm of Swiggy, has appointed Amitesh Jha as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Jha, who previously held a key position at Flipkart, will be stepping into the role as Phani Kishan, Swiggy’s co-founder and current CEO of Instamart, transitions to a broader role within the company. Kishan will now oversee Swiggy’s central growth unit, reporting directly to Swiggy Group CEO, Sriharsha Majety.

This appointment follows another significant leadership addition earlier in the month, with Sairam Krishnamurthy joining as Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Instamart.

As Swiggy prepares for its upcoming IPO filing with SEBI in early September, the company continues to expand its leadership team and explore strategic opportunities, including rumored discussions with Amazon regarding the acquisition of Swiggy’s quick commerce business.

Swiggy was recently valued at $14.74 billion by its U.S. investor Baron Capital, despite recording a loss of Rs 1,600 crore on a revenue of Rs 5,476 crore during the first three quarters of FY24. The company’s financial performance and growth potential remain under close watch as it prepares for its public offering.
