IndiaTech.Org has announced the promotion of Dhiraj Gyani to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his new role, Gyani will concentrate on unlocking business potential through effective government engagement and assisting members in achieving significant milestones and scaling operations.
Gyani has been with IndiaTech.Org for over a year, most recently serving as the Senior Director of Policy & Operations. In this capacity, he dedicated himself to tackling public policy and regulatory challenges faced by Indian tech startups. His efforts in advocacy strategies, outreach plans, and regulatory implementations have greatly supported B2C and B2B tech startups across various sectors, significantly contributing to their growth and success.
Before his tenure at IndiaTech.Org, Gyani was the Director of Government Affairs & Education Business (GitHub) at Microsoft for nearly three years. During this period, he promoted and evangelized GitHub to government, academia, and startups. He acted as a legislative advisor, implementing regulatory strategies to ensure the endorsement and use of Microsoft products by various government entities. His work led to increased usage of GitHub in several national projects, including CoWin and Aarogya Setu.
Prior to his role at GitHub, Gyani served as the India Marketing Director (Government and Enterprise Business) at Microsoft. He led digital transformation outreach, generated demand, and built a robust pipeline of qualified leads. His outstanding performance and contributions to the success and growth of Microsoft’s India business earned him the Microsoft Gold Club Award.
Gyani began his career at the Project Management Institute (PMI), where he established the Government Relations practice in India. His advocacy for project management among Indian federal and state government bodies drove a 340% growth in the adoption of PMI certifications and standards in the public sector.
