On Friday, State Street’s asset management division announced James Ferrarelli as the new executive vice president and chief operating officer. Reporting to State Street Global Advisors CEO Yie-Hsin Hung, Ferrarelli will help implement a strategic vision to enhance the firm’s operations and technology.
Ferrarelli joins from Schwab, where he spent eight years developing investment and technological capabilities. Most recently, he was the chief information officer for Schwab’s wealth and asset management divisions, overseeing technology strategy, app development, and third-party product integration.
At State Street Global Advisors, Ferrarelli will build advanced technology and operational infrastructure to support the business across various asset classes and global markets. “I am excited to join the dynamic leadership team and enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability for the firm’s future success,” he said.
This appointment follows the recruitment of Anna Paglia as chief business officer last November and precedes a leadership transition with the planned retirement of Louis Maiuri, State Street’s president and head of investment services.
