Raghu Nair has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer of Oterra Hotels. A veteran in the hospitality industry, Nair brings extensive experience and expertise to his new role.
Nair’s career trajectory is inspiring for aspiring hoteliers. Starting as a bar in-charge, he rose through the ranks at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), holding positions such as Outlet Manager, F&B Director, and Executive Assistant Manager in the Middle East and India. His leadership was crucial in Velankani’s transition from the IHG brand to its independent portfolio, which includes The Oterra Hotel, Otium Bangalore, Otium Goa, and 46 Ounces Resto Pub & Microbrewery.
Previously, as General Manager of The Oterra Hotel, Nair led an ambitious expansion strategy across India, incorporating a variety of hotels from budget-friendly to luxurious options. He strongly advocates for a “people-centric” work environment, reflected in The Oterra’s accolade as the “Best Place to Work.”
Sustainability is a key focus for Oterra Hotels, and Nair is committed to promoting responsible hospitality practices. Under his leadership, Velankani Hospitality Division adheres to a “net zero” vision, emphasizing sustainable operations across its properties.
