Samir Kumar has been named the new Country Manager for Amazon India. Samir, a veteran of Amazon, has been a significant player in the company’s journey, notably as part of the team that launched Amazon.in. His extensive experience within the company positions him well to lead Amazon’s Indian operations.
In his new role, Kumar will oversee Amazon India’s consumer business while also continuing his responsibilities for the company’s operations in the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey. His appointment follows the resignation of Manish Tiwary, who served as Country Manager for over eight years. Kumar’s leadership will be pivotal as he transitions into this role and works closely with Tiwary during the handover period.
Kumar’s academic background includes an engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, and a master’s degree from Utah State University. His deep understanding of Amazon’s business and his track record of successful initiatives will be crucial as he steers Amazon India through its next phase of growth.
Under Kumar’s leadership, the Amazon India team, including key figures such as Saurabh Srivastava, Harsh Goyal, Amit Nanda, and Aastha Jain, will continue to focus on expanding their respective areas. Kishore Thota will also report to Amit Nanda, emphasizing the collaborative approach Kumar will bring to the role.
