Xiaomi India has appointed Sudhin Mathur, the former head of Motorola India, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), marking a key leadership move as the company celebrates its 10-year milestone in the country. Mathur is set to play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Xiaomi India’s strategic vision, focusing on maintaining its growth momentum and achieving its business objectives.
According to a company statement, Mathur’s appointment comes at a crucial time as Xiaomi India builds on a successful Q2. Muralikrishnan B, President of Xiaomi India, highlighted Mathur’s role in driving the company’s next phase of growth, saying, “To maintain this momentum and achieve our ambitious goals, we are onboarding the right talent to balance clear focus with investing in functional capabilities to scale maximum productivity.”
With a career spanning over three decades, Mathur brings extensive expertise in driving profitability and leading transformative initiatives across telecom, services, and office automation sectors. His experience covers brand building, retail transformation, and high-performance team development, which positions him well to contribute significantly to Xiaomi’s growth in India.
Reflecting on his new role, Mathur stated, “Xiaomi India has been leading the technology sector with the magic of its unparalleled range of products and services. Together, we aim to drive innovation, push boundaries, and deliver exceptional experiences for our customers.”
Prior to this, Mathur worked with Sony Ericsson, where he established the brand’s smartphone business in India and helped set up a global R&D Centre in Chennai. His experience also includes leadership roles at LG Mobiles, as well as founding Shoptalk, a company focused on enhancing consumer engagement at retail points for various successful brands.
As Xiaomi continues to be a dominant player in India’s tech market, Mathur’s leadership is expected to further strengthen the company’s foothold and accelerate its innovation-driven approach.
