Former Swiggy CTO Dale Vaz on Scaling Success: Embrace the Daily Grind

Dale Vaz, the former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Swiggy, recently reflected on his experiences scaling the popular food delivery app, shedding light on the relentless dedication required to achieve such growth. Having joined Swiggy in July 2018 as head of engineering and data science, Vaz swiftly ascended to the role of CTO by February 2020. During his tenure, he oversaw numerous initiatives spanning Swiggy’s diverse offerings, including Swiggy Food, Instamart, Dineout, SuprDaily, Genie, Minis, Meat, and alcohol delivery.

Vaz emphasized the essence of perseverance in achieving organizational goals, emphasizing that scaling any business involves consistent execution of everyday tasks over extended periods. “The daily grind of fixing the small things that no one expects you to do. Taking baby steps towards that grand vision,” Vaz remarked. He stressed the importance of dedication and perseverance, highlighting how these attributes culminate in significant achievements over time.

After departing from Swiggy in April 2023, Vaz embarked on a new entrepreneurial journey, founding a wealth-tech startup. His venture has already garnered substantial support, raising between $7-10 million from prominent investors Accel and Elevation Capital last year.

Vaz’s insights have resonated widely, particularly on social media, where his perspective on the disciplined approach to business growth has garnered admiration. As Vaz continues to innovate in the tech and startup landscape, his lessons from scaling Swiggy serve as an enduring testament to the power of perseverance and dedication in achieving entrepreneurial success.
