Nupur Pavan Bang has joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Hyderabad as the Director cum Dean. In her new role, she will lead the Centre’s efforts to establish itself as a global think tank by fostering a robust research ecosystem and developing impactful knowledge resources. Nupur’s leadership will be integral in driving strategic collaborations with academia, industry, and policymakers while promoting initiatives that contribute to nation-building.
Before joining ICAI, Nupur served as the Academic Director at the Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise at the Indian School of Business. During her tenure, she mentored future family business leaders and shaped the Centre’s strategic direction. She also held the position of Associate Director at ISB, where she played a significant role in advancing the Centre’s initiatives in family business research and education.
Nupur’s expertise spans multiple areas, particularly in family business governance, next-generation leadership, and wealth management. With her focus on applied and academic research, case writing, training, and consulting, she has contributed extensively to advancing knowledge in family business dynamics. Her work has been instrumental in empowering family businesses to navigate challenges around governance and succession planning.
In addition to her leadership roles, Nupur has taught as a Visiting Professor at Ashoka University, where she offered courses on family business. She has also been a guest faculty member at prestigious institutions like the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, and the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), where she delivered courses on topics such as corporate finance and international business.
Her commitment to promoting women’s leadership in family businesses and advancing diversity and inclusion has made her a well-respected figure in the field. Nupur is dedicated to supporting the growth of women leaders and empowering them to take on influential roles in family-owned businesses.
Now, as the Director cum Dean of ICAI’s Centre of Excellence, Nupur Pavan Bang will continue to influence and shape the future of family business research and education.
