Sandeep Dutta Joins Amazon Web Services as India and South Asia President Amidst Major Expansion

Sandeep Dutta has stepped into the role of President for India and South Asia at Amazon Web Services (AWS), marking a strategic addition to the company’s leadership in the region. With over two decades of experience at Accenture, where he led various business transformations, Sandeep Dutta is set to drive AWS’s growth and service delivery across India. His appointment comes nearly a year after the departure of Vaishali Kasture, the interim country head, and amid AWS’s ongoing expansion initiatives.

AWS’s Vice President of Asia Pacific & Japan, Jaime Valles, previously overseeing India operations, announced Sandeep Dutta’s joining on social media, emphasizing his depth of expertise in digital transformation. Dutta is known for his insights into disruptive technologies and has consistently helped organizations in India leverage digital innovation to meet strategic goals. His vision aligns closely with AWS’s mission to bring cloud-driven solutions that address India’s most complex challenges and contribute to its economic progress.

Sandeep Dutta’s onboarding aligns with AWS’s ambitious $12.7-billion investment plan in India, a project focused on establishing robust data centers and cloud infrastructure by the end of the decade. This significant commitment not only underscores AWS’s confidence in India’s growth potential but also aims to boost the nation’s GDP by billions, supporting job creation across the technology sector. The investment is anticipated to bring transformative infrastructure upgrades, fueling digital innovation and cloud adoption among businesses.

AWS’s commitment to India extends to sustainable energy goals, with the cloud provider spearheading 50 renewable energy projects nationwide. Upon completion, these projects will generate over a gigawatt of clean energy, advancing both AWS’s operational sustainability and India’s broader green energy objectives. By integrating digital and sustainable infrastructure, AWS is set to play a critical role in India’s digital future.

With Dutta now at the helm, AWS India is poised to leverage his extensive industry knowledge, furthering its mission to empower businesses with cloud technologies and lead impactful, sustainable projects across the country.
