Sumit Kumar Popli has joined Tech Mahindra as the president and strategic business unit head for the Technology Media & Entertainment (TME) vertical, marking a significant addition to the company’s leadership team. With a background in the technology sector, particularly from his vast tenure at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Popli brings invaluable expertise to this role. His diverse experience spans multiple industries, enabling him to deliver effective technology solutions in sectors such as retail, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Prior to his new role at Tech Mahindra, Sumit Kumar Popli spent a significant period at Deloitte, focusing on enhancing services within the Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) domain. His contributions aimed to strengthen the firm’s operational and technological capabilities, particularly in private equity. At TCS, he held the position of vice president and global head of the hardware and consumer technology industry, demonstrating his deep understanding of hardware and computing solutions.
The TME vertical plays a vital role within Tech Mahindra, accounting for a substantial portion of the company’s overall revenue. This sector has exhibited impressive growth, reflecting its importance to the organization’s success. Sumit Kumar Popli’s wealth of experience in the technology arena positions him strategically to drive continued growth and innovation within this key business unit.
Popli’s appointment aligns with Tech Mahindra’s trend of attracting top-tier talent from industry leaders such as TCS and Infosys. Earlier in the year, the company also brought on board a former chief marketing officer from TCS as chief growth officer for strategic verticals in the Americas, along with a former chief human resources officer from Infosys, who now serves as chief people officer. These leadership changes are part of a broader strategy initiated by CEO Mohit Joshi to strengthen the management team amid the dynamic market landscape.
