Vasanthi Ramesh Takes on Role as Managing Director for NetApp India, Driving Strategic Growth and Innovation

Vasanthi Ramesh has been named Managing Director of NetApp India, taking on an expanded role that includes leading the data management company’s strategic initiatives in the region. In addition to her ongoing responsibilities as Vice President of Engineering for the Unified Manageability Framework, Ramesh will now be responsible for overseeing NetApp India’s local operations, fostering growth, and steering the company’s innovation strategies.

With a career spanning nearly three decades, Ramesh brings deep expertise in enterprise software and consumer technology to her role. Her contributions to NetApp have included shaping its manageability and data protection offerings, focusing on solutions that benefit customers across traditional data centers and cloud platforms. Her leadership in these areas has been pivotal to advancing NetApp’s portfolio, establishing a strong foundation for the company’s future growth.

In her new capacity, Ramesh will emphasize various organizational programs, including NetApp Excellerator, which supports startups in the data sector, and Academia Connect, which fosters collaboration between the company and academic institutions. She will also work to strengthen NetApp’s engagement with GCC platforms and industry bodies like NASSCOM, aiming to boost the company’s presence and influence within India’s tech landscape.

Ramesh’s academic background further underscores her qualifications, holding dual master’s degrees—one in Statistics from the University of Hyderabad and another in Computer Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Her expertise aligns with NetApp’s commitment to innovation, especially as the company continues expanding its footprint in India, a key market in its Asia growth strategy.

NetApp’s engineering hubs in the U.S., Israel, and India reflect its global focus, with the Bangalore center concentrating on Google-first-party cloud storage services. Under Ramesh’s leadership, NetApp India is expected to continue its growth trajectory, offering advanced cloud and data services while contributing to NetApp’s standing in AI, cybersecurity, and hybrid-multicloud trends in the region.
