Ajay Kumar Pandey has been appointed as Executive Director & CEO – Power at Jindal Power Limited. With more than 22 years of extensive leadership experience in strategic management, operations, commodity procurement, supply chain, and sustainability, Ajay will now spearhead Jindal Power’s business growth and operational excellence in the power sector. His appointment marks a significant step in strengthening Jindal Power’s vision of building efficient, sustainable, and future-ready energy solutions.
Ajay joins Jindal Power after an illustrious career of over two decades at Vedanta Limited, where he held several senior leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer – Power at Vedanta’s Aluminium Business, overseeing India’s largest captive power plant of 3615 MW. Prior to this, he was Chief Operating Officer – Power, where he successfully developed and implemented strategies to optimize performance, improve efficiency, and ensure cost-effective and safe operations. His expertise also spans coal sourcing, supply chain management, and ash utilization, underlining his commitment to sustainable operations and ESG-driven practices.
During his tenure at Vedanta, Ajay played a pivotal role in digital transformation and modernization of power plant operations, introducing innovative systems to enhance reliability and performance. He also served as Head – Health, Safety & Fire, where he championed people-centric safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and organizational safety culture. His leadership in these critical areas established him as a versatile and impact-driven executive within the group.
Ajay began his career in power plant operations with ACC Cement and Malco before joining Vedanta, steadily building deep technical expertise in boilers, turbines, and auxiliary systems. Over the years, he has combined his technical foundation with strategic vision, making him adept at driving both operational detail and long-term growth strategy.
In his new role at Jindal Power Limited, Ajay will focus on business growth, operational sustainability, risk management, and strengthening supply chain resilience. With his proven track record of leading large-scale power operations and his strong commitment to ESG principles, he is well positioned to lead Jindal Power into its next phase of growth and transformation.
