Mr. V Srikanth is a seasoned mining professional with over 36 years of extensive experience across cement, iron ore, coal and bauxite operations, appointed as Chief Executive Officer (Mining) at SM Steels and Power Limited.
Prior to this, Mr. Srikanth served as President at Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL), Chief Executive Officer at Vedanta Limited, and Chief Operating Officer at the Aditya Birla Group. He has managed operations and maintenance of integrated cement plants, complementing his broad expertise in mining.
Among his significant achievements, Mr. Srikanth operationalized the first private coal mine in Odisha during the auction regime at Vedanta—an accomplishment unique among 54 coal blocks auctioned nationwide since 2020. He also significantly increased iron ore production capacity from 4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 19 MTPA during his tenure at the Aditya Birla Group. Additionally, he successfully commissioned a 3.5 km pit crushing and conveying system, overcoming long-standing operational challenges.
Mr. Srikanth has expertise in effective implementation of the DuPont methodology of Safety Management and is a certified assessor in World Class Manufacturing, setting high industry benchmarks in safety and operational efficiency. His leadership excellence has been recognized with the Aditya Birla Group Chairman’s Exceptional Contributor Award (2009) and the Vedanta Chairman’s CEO of Choice Award (2023).
He holds a degree in Mining Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, and completed an executive program at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, in 2010. His global outlook is strengthened by extensive travel to countries such as the United States, Germany, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
