Pam Kaur Joins HSBC as Chief Financial Officer, Breaking New Ground

Pam Kaur has taken on the role of Chief Financial Officer at HSBC, marking a historic moment as the first woman to hold this position in the bank’s nearly 160-year existence. Kaur steps into this role following Georges Elhedery, who now serves as the bank’s CEO. Alongside this leadership change, HSBC is undergoing a structural transformation, streamlining its operations into four key business units, focusing on global regions and services.

Pam Kaur, who has been with HSBC, has held several leadership roles, including Group Chief Risk Officer. Her vast experience spans various sectors of the bank, making her a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of HSBC’s global operations.

With a strong educational background, Kaur holds an MBA in Finance and a BCom (Hons) from Panjab University in India. She is also a Fellow member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Before joining HSBC, Kaur built a robust career in auditing and risk management, having worked at Ernst & Young, Citibank, and other prominent global financial institutions.

Pam Kaur’s appointment underscores her vast expertise in managing complex, large-scale operations across different regions and her ability to lead in the ever-evolving financial landscape. Her experience in working with regulators and global supervisory boards positions her as a key leader during HSBC’s transformation.
