Capt. Yogesh Gaur has been elevated to the position of Chief HR, Hazira & IR India at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), marking another significant milestone in his distinguished career. In this expanded leadership role, based in Surat, Gujarat, he will oversee the human resources and industrial relations functions for AM/NS India’s Hazira operations and IR India, focusing on strategic people management, harmonious labour relations, and employee engagement initiatives that support the company’s long-term growth and operational excellence.
This elevation follows his impactful two-year tenure as Head of Human Resources at AM/NS India’s Hazira plant, where Capt. Gaur successfully implemented progressive HR practices, strengthened workforce engagement, and fostered a collaborative industrial relations climate. His contributions have been instrumental in aligning HR strategies with the organization’s ambitious growth plans while ensuring employee well-being and productivity.
Before his journey with AM/NS India, Capt. Gaur held the position of Senior Vice President – Human Resources at J M Baxi Group, where he led organizational transformation and talent integration across diverse business units. He also dedicated a decade to Vedanta Group, holding senior HR leadership positions, including an international assignment at Konkola Copper Mines in Zambia, where he adeptly managed cross-cultural workforces and complex industrial relations landscapes. His corporate journey began at Indofil Chemical Company, following a highly disciplined and decorated six-year service as a Company Commander in the Indian Army.
Capt. Gaur’s military background with the Garhwal Rifles has instilled in him a rare blend of strategic vision, operational discipline, and people-centric leadership. This, combined with his deep industry expertise in steel, mining, logistics, and chemicals, uniquely positions him to guide AM/NS India’s HR and IR functions towards achieving operational synergy and sustainable growth.
