With nearly two decades of experience in building large-scale distributed systems, machine learning frameworks, and information retrieval technologies, Gaurav brings deep technical leadership to one of the world’s leading professional services organizations. In his new role, he will focus on modernizing EY’s client technology stack, driving the development of cloud-native, AI-powered platforms that serve enterprises across tax, audit, and compliance domains. His mandate emphasizes operating with a startup mindset inside a global firm, shaping how software transforms modern enterprises.
Before joining EY, Gaurav served as Chief Technology Officer at Udaan, where he led product, engineering, data science, design, and IT infrastructure. He also founded Millioneyes Healthcare Technologies, a platform offering Ayurveda-based digital health solutions, and held senior leadership roles at Flipkart as Vice President of Engineering, where he spearheaded data, relevance, and marketing platforms that scaled with the company’s exponential growth. Earlier in his career, he managed the India Development Center for Retrevo and served as Director of Engineering at Kosmix, later acquired by WalmartLabs, contributing to innovations in categorization and local search technology.
Gaurav’s professional journey spans India and Silicon Valley, where he began as Senior Member of Technical Staff at Oracle and later advanced into leadership roles shaping consumer and enterprise technology solutions. His contributions include filing multiple patents and publishing in the fields of search, categorization, and information extraction. Alongside his corporate roles, he has been an active angel investor and advisor to early-stage startups such as HooLiv, Biryani by Kilo, Galaxeye, Vibecity, Rupeek, Twigly, and The Ayurveda Experience, showcasing his passion for nurturing innovation across diverse sectors.
A graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and a Master’s degree holder in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, Gaurav has consistently blended academic rigor with industry impact.
