Akshay Thakurdesai has been elevated as Country Head – India and Head of Global Service Centres at Apex Group Ltd, a global financial services provider. In this expanded role, Akshay will oversee the group’s full India offering, including its rapidly growing presence in GIFT City, and lead strategic development across global service centers located in Mauritius, South Africa, Mexico, Philippines, and Spain.
With a dynamic career spanning over two decades, Akshay brings deep expertise in asset servicing and global markets. His leadership spans cross-cultural roles across APAC and Europe, where he has held key positions in general management, business development, and scaling operations at both onshore and offshore platforms. His return to Apex Group Ltd marks a renewed focus on driving service excellence, operational transformation, and strategic collaboration across global client servicing hubs.
Prior to rejoining Apex Group Ltd, Akshay served as Senior Managing Director at State Street, where he led Custody Complex Operations and Reconciliation for a team of over 6,000. His tenure at BNP Paribas covered multiple leadership positions, including India Head – Securities Services and COO for Global Markets Equities, where he spearheaded significant franchise transformations, enhanced regulatory engagement, and grew business across asset owner and broker segments.
Akshay’s industry presence extends beyond corporate mandates. As a board member at ASIFMA for Custody, he has played an instrumental role in capital market advocacy and regulatory representation. Known for his forward-thinking and people-first approach, Akshay now leads a global team of over 9,000 at Apex Group Ltd, championing innovation, collaboration, and long-term value creation for clients.
