Debmalya Sen has been appointed as the new President at India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), bringing with him decades of experience in the energy sector. Prior to this, he served as India Lead – Advanced Energy Solutions at the World Economic Forum, where he played a crucial role in accelerating the deployment of advanced energy solutions, including green hydrogen and energy storage. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to energy strategy, policy advocacy, and industry collaboration, having worked with organizations such as KPMG India, Customized Energy Solutions, and CLP India (now Apraava Energy).
An engineer by background, Debmalya Sen holds an MBA in Finance from SP Jain School of Global Management, where he was recognized on the dean’s list and received the Global Citizenship Award. His expertise spans operations, project development, asset management, and management consulting, with a strong focus on integrating renewable energy into the grid. His leadership at IESA is expected to drive advancements in energy storage, grid modernization, and sustainable energy solutions across India, aligning with the country’s energy transition goals.
During his tenure at the World Economic Forum, Debmalya Sen worked closely with government bodies and corporate leaders to shape energy policies and strategies. He co-authored the Green Hydrogen Policy Roadmap for India under the guidance of the Ministry of Power and facilitated the formation of industry clusters in Gujarat and Maharashtra. His previous roles at KPMG India saw him working on India’s energy storage policy, battery storage production-linked incentives (PLI), and key renewable energy tenders.
As President at IESA, Debmalya Sen will be at the forefront of fostering innovation in energy storage and supporting industry stakeholders in navigating the evolving energy landscape. His vision is to enhance India’s energy storage ecosystem through policy advocacy, technology development, and market transformation. With his leadership, IESA is poised to strengthen its role as a key enabler of India’s clean energy transition, ensuring the nation’s sustainable and resilient energy future.
