Mumtaz Afzal has been elevated to the role of Vice President and Head of Digital Transformation at SYSTRA India, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to driving technology-led change across its infrastructure and transportation portfolio. With a rich experience of over 20 years in the infrastructure sector, Mumtaz has consistently demonstrated visionary leadership in operations, digital strategy, and large-scale project delivery.
Since joining SYSTRA India in 2021 as Operations Director – PMC Business Line, Mumtaz has played a pivotal role in enhancing project delivery standards, steering business development initiatives, and leading the organization’s digitalization programme. His promotion is a testament to his ability to align operational excellence with innovation, and his efforts in embedding digital-first thinking across business functions have set new benchmarks in the industry.
In his elevated role, Mumtaz will now lead the development and execution of the company’s Digital Transformation Roadmap, with a focus on integrating AI and emerging technologies into project workflows, reimagining delivery models, and driving efficiency and sustainability. He will also oversee digital leadership and capability-building initiatives across the organization while strengthening SYSTRA’s ecosystem through strategic technology partnerships.
Prior to joining SYSTRA, Mumtaz held leadership positions at TYPSA, Aarvee Associates, and PMC Projects (Adani Group), managing metro and railway projects across India. His domain expertise spans strategic planning, operations, enterprise risk management, and digital construction methodologies such as Lean and Construction 4.0.
