PanIIT Alumni India announced the appointment of Ashok Kumar as its new General Secretary. With a distinguished career spanning over 28 years in the BFSI sector and a proven track record in leadership and strategic roles, Ashok brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new position within the PanIIT community.
Ashok Kumar’s association with the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) runs deep. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, where he earned his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Mining Engineering. Over the years, he has remained actively involved in the IIT alumni network, most recently serving as an Executive Council Member of PanIIT Alumni India from July 2022 to July 2024.
In his new role as General Secretary, Ashok will be responsible for steering the initiatives of PanIIT Alumni India, which serves as an umbrella organization representing the alumni of all IITs. His leadership will be instrumental in driving the association’s mission to support and connect IIT alumni globally, fostering innovation, collaboration, and social impact.
He currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer – Government Business at Marsh India, a global leader in insurance broking and risk management. Before joining Marsh India, Ashok held significant roles at renowned organizations such as ICICI Bank, ICICI Securities, Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, ACC Ltd, Voltas Ltd, and NMDC Ltd. His extensive experience in risk management, general insurance, wealth management, and government business has made him a respected figure in the industry.
As General Secretary of PanIIT Alumni India, Ashok Kumar is poised to lead the organization with vision and dedication, further strengthening the bonds within the IIT alumni community and promoting the values of innovation and service that the IITs stand for.
