Chandra Shekhar Verma Joins Shyam Metalics as Independent Director

Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd has appointed Chandra Shekhar Verma, former Chairman and Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), as its new independent director. Verma will join the company’s strategic advisory board, contributing to key decision-making processes aimed at driving growth and development.

Verma brings over 40 years of public sector experience, primarily in the steel industry. He served as the CMD of SAIL from June 2010 to June 2015 and held additional roles such as CMD of NMDC and International Coal Ventures Ltd (ICVL). His extensive background underscores his expertise as a strategic leader and techno-commercial expert, which is expected to significantly benefit Shyam Metalics.

In his new role, Verma expressed his eagerness to contribute to the critical decision-making processes that will drive Shyam Metalics’ business development. The company, based in West Bengal and Odisha, is an integrated metal-producing firm with a focus on long steel products and ferro alloys.
