Wipro, a leading global information technology, consulting, and business process services company, has announced the appointment of Phanikumar Penukonda as the Vice President and Sector Delivery & Operations Executive for the Energy, Manufacturing & Resources (EMR) sector in the Americas.
In this new role, Penukonda will be responsible for spearheading strategy, delivery, and profitable growth across various IT services, including Digital, Cloud & Infrastructure, Enterprise Applications, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics & AI, BPO, and Consulting services.
Phanikumar brings with him an impressive 29 years of experience in the Information Technology sector, encompassing a wide range of disciplines such as strategy, delivery, business transformation, automation, data analytics, AI/ML, digital technologies, and cloud services. His extensive expertise also covers IT infrastructure and service management, transition and transformation operations, and cybersecurity.
Before his current role, Penukonda served as the Vice President and Global Head of Transformation, Strategy, and Delivery Excellence at Wipro. His tenure at Wipro has been marked by several achievements, including the successful execution of cloud and IT infrastructure transition projects across various industry verticals. He has also been instrumental in designing and institutionalizing Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) frameworks to ensure information security and regulatory compliance.
Phanikumar’s career spans multiple leadership roles in top-tier organizations. At Unisys, he served as the Global Director for Business Excellence in Cloud, Infrastructure, and Application Services, where he led key business and process transformation initiatives. His efforts contributed significantly to the organization’s global service delivery standards and security compliance frameworks.
