Rakesh Makhija Appointed Chairman of the Board at Castrol India

Castrol India has announced the elevation of Rakesh Makhija to the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective October 1, 2024. Makhija succeeds R. Gopalakrishnan, who has held the position previously.

Makhija’s appointment as Chairman follows his reappointment as an Independent Director by Castrol India’s Board earlier this year, a position he has held since 2019. His new role marks a significant advancement in his tenure with the company.

In addition to his role at Castrol India, Makhija serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Axis Bank, a position he has held since 2015. Notably, he has been the Non-Executive Chairman of Axis Bank since July 2019 and is also a board member of A.Treds, a subsidiary of Axis Bank.

Rakesh Makhija’s extensive experience and leadership roles across various boards position him well to steer Castrol India into its next phase of growth. His appointment is anticipated to bring a wealth of experience and strategic insight to the company.
