Amit Golia Unveils Bold Vision for MarketsMojo: Paving the Path for a New Generation of Investors

In an exclusive interview with CXO Lanes, Amit Golia, Group CEO of MarketsMojo, explored his journey through over two decades in the capital markets and his vision for MarketsMojo’s future. Golia, who previously held key positions at Tata Digital, SBI Securities, Axis Securities, and Motilal Oswal, brings a wealth of expertise in fintech and financial services to his new role. With a focus on driving growth through innovative, customer-centric solutions, Golia shares insights into his leadership approach, strategies to enhance MarketsMojo’s offerings, and his plans to expand wealth management and engage the next generation of investors.

With over 23 years of experience in the capital markets, how has your professional journey shaped your approach to leading at MarketsMojo?

Amit Golia: With over 23 years in capital markets, my professional journey has been deeply enriching and instrumental in shaping my approach to leading at MarketsMojo. My extensive experience has given me a nuanced understanding of market cycles, economic shifts, and investor behaviour, allowing me to anticipate trends and develop strategies that cater to investors’ real needs.

Throughout my career, interacting closely with customers has provided valuable insights into their requirements, preferred tools, and decision-making processes. These insights have reinforced a customer-first approach, focusing on delivering products and tools that empower investors to make well-timed, informed decisions and grow their wealth.

At MarketsMojo, I see a strong alignment with this philosophy. Our data science-based AI platform for fundamental research is designed to empower users by providing data-driven insights and helping them invest in high-potential stocks to generate alpha. My goal at MarketsMojo is to extend our reach across the investor community, equipping them to confidently engage in equity markets while learning and earning along the way.

What specific areas of MarketsMojo’s business model will be your top priorities as you take on the role of Group CEO?

Amit Golia: MarketsMojo currently operates across three core business segments:

Research and Advisory: We provide comprehensive research and advisory services covering all stocks listed on the exchange. This reach is now expanding internationally to cover 24 countries, encompassing 92% of the global market cap. This broad scope allows us to provide investors with in-depth research and insights across a vast array of global equities.

Portfolio Management Service (PMS): Launched about a year ago, our PMS is among the fastest-growing new schemes in India. This service allows investors who prefer expert management to have their capital professionally managed, with a focus on growth and tailored investment strategies.

Wealth Management (Mutual Fund Research and Transaction Platform): Recently introduced, our wealth management division includes a unique mutual fund research score and curated investment baskets to help investors meet specific financial goals. This platform provides informed insights, making it easier for investors to choose mutual funds aligned with their objectives.

Our goal is to serve a wide range of investors through these offerings. Retail investors can use our research and advisory platform to explore potential stocks, build model portfolios, and access in-depth market insights. For those who prefer expert management, our PMS service is available, and for mutual fund investors, our platform offers data-driven recommendations to make informed mutual fund selections. Each service is designed to empower investors at every level to make confident, well-informed investment decisions.

How do you plan to leverage your expertise in fintech to enhance MarketsMojo’s offerings and overall value proposition?

Amit Golia: Fintech is about delivering real-time, digital solutions with innovation and simplicity, and I aim to leverage this ethos to enhance MarketsMojo’s offerings. My goal is to create solutions that cater to a broad range of investors—retail, MNI, and HNI—by presenting insights in straightforward language and providing tools that make investment decisions easy to understand and execute.

Rather than overwhelming users with data on every stock or mutual fund, we’re focused on guiding them toward what they need to do in the market to meet their goals. The emphasis will be on simplifying each customer’s investment journey by creating an intuitive, user-friendly experience that empowers them to act with confidence and clarity.

As MarketsMojo expands into wealth management, what will be your key focus areas, and how do you aim to set the platform apart in a competitive market?

Amit Golia: As MarketsMojo expands into wealth management, my key focus areas will include:

Differentiated Mutual Fund Advisory: Our mutual fund platform is built as an advisory-based execution tool, unique in its approach by scoring mutual funds based not only on standard metrics but also on the quality of the underlying stocks, using our in-house scoring system. This approach provides deeper insight into each fund’s potential, helping customers select funds that meet their financial goals across all parameters. By focusing on awareness, we aim to empower customers to make informed decisions and maximize their mutual fund investments.

Expanding Wealth Management Offerings: While mutual funds are the current focus, we’re looking to gradually expand our wealth management suite. This includes exploring other products and solutions, such as portfolio advisory services, to provide more comprehensive wealth management tools.

Active Advisory for Mid-Tier Investors: To bridge the gap between DIY retail investors and high-net-worth clients who qualify for PMS, we’re exploring ways to deliver active advisory for customers who may not meet the traditional investment minimums. This

approach will enable those with portfolios under Rs. 50 lakh to benefit from professional advice tailored to generate alpha, enhancing their investment experience.

Our goal is to take a measured, step-by-step approach to ensure each product offers true value to our customers and distinguishes MarketsMojo in a competitive market, ultimately simplifying the investment process and helping clients achieve superior portfolio performance.

What new strategies or innovations do you plan to introduce in your first year at MarketsMojo to boost customer engagement and drive business growth?

Amit Golia: In my first year at MarketsMojo, the primary strategy is to actively gather and integrate customer feedback to guide our product roadmap and prioritize improvements that resonate with our user base. We’ve been engaging directly with our customers through roadshows in key cities across India and the UAE, where we have a strong user presence.

Key strategies for the first year include:

Enhancing Product Features Based on Customer Insights: The feedback gathered during our roadshows has already helped us identify areas for enhancement. These insights are directly shaping our focus areas, allowing us to strengthen our offerings in ways that boost customer engagement.

Aligning the Organization Around Customer-Centric Goals: Using customer feedback as our foundation, I am aligning our team’s goals with customer expectations to ensure we consistently deliver on their requirements. By making these adjustments internally, we aim to create a responsive, customer-first approach that will drive stronger relationships and loyalty.

Building Ongoing Engagement Channels: Beyond roadshows, we are exploring additional channels for gathering continuous feedback, ensuring our engagement remains high and our improvements ongoing. This also helps us stay agile, making timely enhancements that align with evolving customer expectations.

Additionally, we are actively working on some innovative products that we plan to launch in Q4. These offerings are designed to set us apart and further enhance the customer experience, reinforcing our commitment to delivering meaningful, user-focused solutions.

Markets Mojo’s latest launch- MOJOMF aims to simplify the investment process, especially for younger investors. What specific features do you believe will resonate most with this demographic, and how do you plan to engage them to foster a culture of informed investing?

Amit Golia:

Engaging Younger Investors

1. Simplicity at Its Core: Younger investors want quick, intuitive solutions, and MOJOMF delivers that. The platform breaks down the complexities of mutual funds with clear comparisons, tailored recommendations, and a seamless user interface. This takes away the intimidation factor and lets them start investing with confidence, even if it’s their first time.

2. Goal-Based Investing: One of the biggest challenges for young investors is making the connection between investing and their life goals. MOJOMF bridges that gap through Mojo Baskets, which allows investors to link their investments directly to what matters most to them. This goal-oriented approach transforms investing into a personalized journey, making it easier for young investors to align their financial decisions with their life aspirations.

3. Relevant Education: Younger investors seek straightforward, digestible information rather than complex jargon or lengthy articles. That’s why our scheme page is designed to present key investment concepts in concise, easy-to-understand formats. This allows them to quickly grasp essential information without feeling overwhelmed, making learning about investing both accessible and engaging.

Today’s generation lives online, and that’s where we’re going to meet them. We plan to use platforms like Instagram, YouTube etc. to share engaging, relatable content. From quick investment tips to regular online webinars, we’ll create a strong connection with our audience.

By tapping into the digital spaces where young investors spend their time, we’re promoting a culture of smart, informed investing. Our aim is to break down the barriers that often keep younger people from diving into the world of mutual funds and show them that investing doesn’t have to be complex—it can be simple, rewarding, and even fun.

The introduction of a scoring system for mutual funds is a significant innovation. Can you elaborate on the methodology behind this scoring system and how it enhances decision-making for both novice and seasoned investors? What measures are in place to ensure the accuracy and reliability of these scores?

Amit Golia: The MOJO Score: The Game Changer

A standout feature of MOJOMF is the MOJO Score, which simplifies fund selection for both newcomers and seasoned investors.

1. Comprehensive Evaluation: Our MOJO Score is based on a proprietary methodology that assesses nine key parameters, including both short-term and long-term returns, consistency of performance, portfolio holdings, volatility, and overall risk. This holistic

approach gives investors a well-rounded view of each mutual fund, helping them understand its potential in various market conditions.

2. Informed Decision-Making: By integrating multiple metrics into a single score, we simplify the decision-making process. Investors no longer need to wade through complex data or disparate sources of information. Instead, they can rely on the MOJO Score to provide a clear, concise assessment of a fund’s strengths and weaknesses, making it easier to choose the right investment for their goals.

3. Risk- Adjusted Returns: We don’t just look at returns in isolation. The MOJO Score adjusts for the risk each fund takes to generate its returns, so younger investors can make smarter choices. It helps them understand that a flashy return isn’t always the best option—what matters is how much risk was involved in achieving it. This is critical for beginners who might be nervous about volatility and want to make decisions with a long-term view.

Ensuring Accuracy and Reliability

To ensure the scores are both accurate and reliable, MOJOMF employs:

· Data Integrity: The data driving the scoring system is sourced from credible, well-vetted market databases, updated regularly to reflect real-time market conditions.

· Continuous Review: Algorithms and criteria behind the MOJO Score are reviewed periodically, ensuring they remain relevant in changing market conditions.

MOJOMF is more than just another mutual fund platform—it’s a fresh, engaging approach to investing that puts younger investors at the center. By combining easy access to the right information, tailored investment options, and interactive tools, we’re helping the next generation invest confidently and achieve their financial goals.
