Citi has appointed Jeegar Shah as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its India operations, effective June 1, 2024. Jeegar will be the primary financial contact in India and will support Ashu Khullar, Citi Country Officer for India and Head of Banking for the Indian Sub-Continent.
With over 19 years of experience in various finance roles, Jeegar has a strong background in financial and regulatory reporting, audits, and strategic finance initiatives. He has been serving as Interim CFO for India since February 2024.
Ashu Khullar noted that Jeegar’s deep knowledge of Citi’s operations in India and his proven financial management track record make him an excellent fit for this role. He believes Jeegar’s leadership will strengthen their strategy execution and service delivery in India.
Mui-Eng Teo, CFO for Citi’s Asia South Cluster, highlighted that Jeegar’s expertise will significantly support Citi’s growth ambitions in the Indian market and ensure strong financial discipline and control.
Jeegar, a Chartered Accountant with a master’s degree in commerce from the University of Mumbai, previously served as the Cluster Controller for Citi’s South Asia Cluster. As India CFO, he will report to Mui-Eng Teo.
