Kabeer Biswas to Lead Flipkart’s Quick Commerce Business, Minutes

Kabeer Biswas, co-founder of Dunzo, has joined Flipkart to head its quick commerce business, Minutes. Biswas, who had a turbulent year at Dunzo amidst funding struggles, will start his new role on January 13. In his position, he will collaborate with Flipkart’s senior vice president, Hemant Badri, to drive the growth and expansion of Minutes, which is rapidly scaling up in the competitive quick commerce space.

Biswas’ move marks a significant shift after months of discussions with Flipkart, which included talks about a potential acquisition of Dunzo. However, the deal fell through due to resistance from Dunzo’s investors to relinquish the brand. Over his tenure at Dunzo, Biswas helped lead the company through its rise as a pioneer in quick commerce, but the company faced severe financial constraints. As he joins Flipkart, he is expected to leverage his extensive experience in the sector to contribute to the growth of Minutes, which has been scaling quickly, especially with its offerings in electronics.

This marks a new chapter for both Biswas and Flipkart, as the company continues to challenge competitors like Zepto and Swiggy Instamart. With a focus on operational expansion, Flipkart Minutes is on track to increase its presence, with plans for over 100 dark stores and growing, making it a strong contender in the quick commerce market.
