Nizar Haddad appointed as Director General at ICARDA; International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), part of CGIAR, bringing over 25 years of experience in agricultural research, scientific innovation, institutional leadership, and sustainable development. Previously, he served as Programme Director at FAO ) in Saudi Arabia, leading a multidisciplinary programme focused on food security, sustainable agriculture, water management, and rural development. In his new role, he leads ICARDA’s efforts to strengthen climate-resilient agrifood systems, scientific research, and international partnerships. Prior to joining ICARDA, he held senior leadership positions at FAO, Del Monte Fresh Produce Brasil Ltda, Del Monte Agro Industries, De L’Ora Bio, and Jordan’s National Agricultural Research Center (NARC). He also served as President of the Jordan Beekeepers Union, contributing to agricultural innovation, biodiversity conservation, biotechnology, and institutional development.
